2222 (Brigg) Squadron has launched its next recruitment drive, encouraging young people aged 12 (Year 8) – 17 to enrol to be part of the team, starting in January 2021.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets aims to promote an interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force to young people. We also provide training to allow Cadets the opportunity to develop skills useful in Military and Civilian careers. We also develop within cadets a spirit of adventure and allow them to gain experience being leaders and good citizens.

As a cadet, young people will get the opportunity to do things others can only dream about. Flying, Gliding, Shooting, Adventure Training, Fieldcraft and so much more. There are many challenging activities, but we give Cadets the ability to overcome these.

Officer Commanding 2222 (Brigg) Squadron, Flight Lieutenant (RAFAC) Graham Slater had this to say “I am excited to be able to give young people the opportunity to discover the activities on offer at Brigg Air Cadets.

“With enthusiastic, qualified volunteer staff ready to encourage you to become the best that you can be in all aspects of your time with us".
The squadron will be holding a virtual recruitment night on Thursday 10 December 2020 at 1900hrs to give an overview of what the Royal Air Force Air Cadets has to offer and also to answer any questions parents/guardians might have.

To sign up for this session please contact 2222@rafac.mod.gov.uk

On Monday evening, we joined 303 (Worksop) Squadron for a talk from Fg Off Kris Simpson-Davies and Fg Off Bryn Mullard who are from No.1 School of Technical Training, RAF Cosford. We got an insight of what life as an RAF Officer is like and an insight into the training required.

On Tuesday , Trent Wing hosted Flt Lt Adam King who is a former Air Cadet from 2160 (Sleaford) Sqn and current Pilot on the F35 Ligtning II at RAF Marham. Adam talked about his life as a cadet and then moving through his career in the Air Force from Initial Officer Training, right through to learning to fly the F35 Lightning II aircraft.

Wednesday saw us invited to listen to a talk by Craig Naylor, who is a Airworthness Engineer with Boeing. 1082 (Brimington) Sqn organised the session and Craig talked to our cadets about his time as an Air Cadet and how this allowed him to study Aviation Technology at Sheffield University. After university,  Craig went on to join Boeing and is now a Airworthiness Engineer working on the Boeing B787, B747, B767, B757, B737

Whilst we have been in the virtual world, sessions hosted by members of the Royal Air Force and other industry experts have allowed our Cadets to connect with our parent organisation and gain vital insights into possible future careers.

We would like to say thank-you to everyone who has given up their time to talk to our cadets.
